چکیده

This paper presents a validation of atmospheric reanalysis data sets for simulating onshore wind generation time series large-scale energy system studies. The three reanalyses are the ERA5, New European Wind Atlas (NEWA) and DTU’s previous European-level (EIWR). An optional scaling is applied to match microscale mean speeds reported in Global version 2 (GWA2). speed used account effects terrain on distributions. power fleet 2015–2018 simulated, with commissioning new plants (WPPs) considered each year. A generic wake model implemented include losses that layout agnostic; captures expected as function given technical characteristics WPP. We validate both point measurement time-series aggregated at country-level. measurements from 32 tall meteorological masts speed, while production four years twelve countries simulated country-level production. Various metrics rank models according variables interest: descriptive statistics, distributions, daily patterns, auto-correlation spatial-correlation. find NEWA outperforms ERA5 EIWR but, expected, no able fully describe single point. found be necessary distribution country-level, NEWA-GWA2 ERA5-GWA2 showing highest accuracy precision time-series. • Several (ERA5, EIWR), without micro-scale scaling. Wake modeled based information individual plants. Measured not part calibration. Microscale reduces bias uncertainty predictions. produces accurate simulations.

Dynamic characterization and predictability analysis of wind speed and wind power time series in Spain wind farm

The renewable energy resources such as wind power have recently attracted more researchers’ attention. It is mainly due to the aggressive energy consumption, high pollution and cost of fossil fuels. In this era, the future fluctuations of these time series should be predicted to increase the reliability of the power network. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics and short-term predictabili...

Evaluation of Time Series Patterns for Wind Speed Volatilities in Anzali Meteorological Station

Abstract. One of the major problems in using wind energy is that wind-generated electricity is more unstable than electricity generated by other sources, and therefore integrating wind energy use with traditional power generation systems can be a challenge. This problem can be effectively reduced by having accurate information about the mean and wind speed volatilities. Therefore, in this paper...

High Spatial Resolution Simulation of Annual Wind Energy Yield Using Near-Surface Wind Speed Time Series

In this paper a methodology is presented that can be used to model the annual wind energy yield (AEYmod) on a high spatial resolution (50 m ˆ 50 m) grid based on long-term (1979–2010) near-surface wind speed (US) time series measured at 58 stations of the German Weather Service (DWD). The study area for which AEYmod is quantified is the German federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Comparability ...
